The Paris Couture Fashion Week started on Sunday night with the Atelier Versace show. As much as the dress code of the Menswear Collections is like its general mood: relaxed, casual and urban, the Couture Fashion Week celebrates glamour and femininity. Step number 1 before attending a Couture show is obviously a trip to the salon and I wanted to share one of my favourite addresses in Paris: Dessanges flagship hair and beauty salon on the Champs Elysees.
Over 1,000 square meters (over 10,000 square feet) of space dedicated to Women, their hair and beauty including a hair salon, a hair and beauty spa, a hammam (steam rooms), a make up boudoir and a hair extension lounge. Shall I add that the service is absolutely immaculate?
I was booked in for a French girl weekly routine treatment i.e. a hair treatment, a blow dry and a manicure. Upon arrival I was warmly greeted by a hostess before my coat was taken to the cloakroom and I was offered a delicious coffee whilst I was waiting for my stylist, Jason who is also the head of the flagship salon.
We started my appointment with a consultation on my desired blow dry style. Anna, another stylist of the salon joined us for the part of the consultation dedicated to my hair treatment. All products used at the salon are from the Dessange range.
The shampoos and hair treatments are from the “Terre Precieuse” range which uses a clay base to which essential oils are being added and mixed in the hair spa especially for each client before being applied with a brush directly on the roots to cleanse the scalp before treating the lengths.
As I have long hair and blow dries twice a week I regularly have hair treatments to ensure that my hair remains healthy. I love the Terre Precieuse range as it felt like a treatment and a shampoo at the same time. The result is healthy looking and shiny hair without feeling heavy, the perfect condition for a blow dry.

Next was the blow dry by Jason who is not only super talented and an endless source of hair and beauty knowledge but is also a warm and charming man ensuring that his clients have the best experience possible. Jason started by a consultation asking the style of blow dry I was fancying. He also advised me on the dos and donts of hairstyling based on the shape of my face. As I opted for a wavy blow dry Jason gave me a tutorial on how to style my hair at home explaining that only 2/3 or the lengths should be curled from the jaw line to get loose waves. Whilst my hair was being done I was treated to a luxury manicure by the lovely Gemma. In line with Autumn Winter trends I’ve opted for a timeless dark red nail polish by Dessanges.
To finish this amazing experience I was invited to the make up boudoir for a personalized make up lesson. Make up applications can be booked as a stand alone service and make up consultations and retouches are a complimentary service offered with each blow dry. As it is very much demanded so I strongly advise to book your consultation when booking the blow dry to ensure that Sarah is available when you come in. Sarah was amazing, advising on how to make the best of my features and improve my daily make up routine. This was an amazing experience. I lost track of time – which never happens – and felt like royalty. Dessange flagship son is definitely a trip during your next stay in Paris before a shopping spree on Avenue Montaigne and a light lunch and a glass of Ruinart at the terrace of the Avenue.
