It is the third season in a row that I’m attending the mesmerising shows from Yumi Katsura. Her couture creations with strong Japanese influences always inspired me: the illustrations are fascinating, the silks are of the best quality and adorned with the most delicate embroideries.
This season Yumi Katsura is reinventing her signature style by incorporating Western aestheticism into her signature Japanese creations, introducing prints inspired by the painters Monet, Van Gogh and Riviere.
Yumi Katsura celebrate the magic of the master painters with the typical Japanese techniques of “Ukiyo-e” (woodblock prints) and Yuzen (traditional silk dyeing technique) which prefect marries to two cultural influences to the perfection.
