The Hottest Styles of The Season
You may have thought due to the current pandemic the spring/summer 2021 trends have gone to the wayside. Well I can tell you it’s just the opposite. Fashion designers from the cities of London, New York, Milan and Paris ensured to present their showcases. Whether it was virtually, in a small Covid-safe venue or sending their collection affairs in boxes to press and consumers the pandemic didn’t stop them, they got the job done!
Now we’re here with the hottest trends you may be thinking, why are fashion trends important while we’re in a lockdown? Well I’ll tell you… there is nothing wrong with staying ready so you don’t have to get ready. We’re soon going to shift from those daily walks to living room zoom calls to fabulous concrete struts to brunch. So get your bookmarks ready and get into my personal spring/summer faves.

MAXI DRESSES
Relax! This is a trend for everyone; floor length dresses are the items that’ll get you through the season. Luckily our new ‘quarantine bods’ will look perfect in maxi dresses, as they’re a perfect way to accentuate the parts of our body we love. Maison Bent captures the epitome of grace and beauty with its SS21 summer dress collection.

Fashion x Masks
One of the biggest changes to our day-to-day lives has been the current use of face masks. We wear them anywhere in the public; to the store, on our daily walks, sometimes I even forget to take it off once back in my bubble. Its something we’ve all become so accustomed to. Now the world is opening back up gradually and we know masks are to keep you safe and not sorry but my SS21 outfits are getting in order and I’m beginning to wonder “Would this pale blue surgical mask go with my fuchsia summer dress?” The answer undoubtedly is NO, Thankfully one of the latest trends have swooped in right on time to keep us safe and stylish. Most of our favourite outlets have released collections from ASOS, Tom ford to Louis Vuitton.
When purchasing make sure your masks can survive regular washes, as you’ll want to keep you mask as clean as possible to prevent ‘maskne’!

Timeless Pieces
Every season there are always collections of timeless basics that I know would be wardrobe essential. SS21 hit and Jacquemus served us with their Bahia Tie Front Blouse, this is an outfit need! The lightweight, draped detailed blouse elegantly falls on the body. They have a selection of gorgeous must-haves that we’ll still be wearing in 10 years.

BLAZERS
If you don’t have a blazer in your wardrobe by now I don’t know what you’re waiting for! This item is something you can use in every season. Whether you reach for bold or neutral colours, shoulder padded, double breasted, or 80’s inspired cuts. There is a style that would fit right with your personality. Also the best thing is that they can be dressed up or down always giving a luxury chic aesthetic. Saint Laurent captured blazer versatility in their SS21 collection, inspired by the 60’s.

Fuchsia Flame !
This commanding colour of the S/S 21 season stormed the runway collections this year. Balmain showcased the hue with a supreme-felt asymmetrical suit while MATTAEU also embraced Fuchsia with it’s floor length gown hinted with silk and balloon sleeves. Having this colour in wardrobe will make any outfit seriously pop.

CUT-OUTS
As the sun begins to slowly peak –out the daring and sexy fashion trends has moved closer to the forefront. From brands like Fendi that took a vintage monotone approach to Brandon Maxwell’s timeless pieces to Victoria Beckham’s peak a boo-chic dress pushing the envelope. Designers have all managed to incorporate their own version of the cut-out trend in their SS21 roster.

Haute Activewear
Another hot trend is Loungewear but Fashion! Yes! Probably inspired by the 2020 lockdown, loungewear has become a new way to be comfortable and trendy. SS21 delivered us with new collections that I know I wouldn’t be able to wear just for the four walls in my home. From Roskanda’s daring colour blocking and extravagant profiles to other designers such as Balenciaga and Edeline Lee incorporated loungewear in their new collections. But don’t worry if you want to feel fabulous at home this new trend is definitely for you.
Side note: have your aloe-vera ready for those stubborn tan-lines!

WIDE LEG TROUSERS
The SS21 Collections being formed during a lockdown has highly taken comfort into consideration. The super wide legged trousers being in most collections shows that being elegant and comfortable is in, so they’re another closet must-have!
