The Ultimate Guide to the Perfect Cover-up!

Oséree – One-Shoulder Lumière Mini Dress

With summer fast approaching and countries being moved to the green-list every three weeks, I think it’s safe to say that this year we’ll be making up for all the holidays we missed out on last year. Cover-ups are something I always like to keep on hand because with a great piece you can wear to brunch, wear for strolls by the beach or at night if you’ve been out all day and those stronger winds have come up. A cover-up is a holiday essential that’ll be needed on many occasions.

Kaftans and Dresses

CAMILLA – A Sonnet for Satine Maxi Kaftan

Let’s start off with kaftans, as this is a traditional cover-up, we all know about. They’re easy to slip on or off and can ultimately give you two outfits in one. You can go simple and chic with a neutral print or turn heads in a fabulous Saudi-inspired gown. Dresses are a sophisticated and elegant cover-up option, and whether its long sleeve, short-sleeve, floor-length or mini they have the ability to elevate any swimwear look.

Shirt Dresses

MELISSA ODABASH – Belted Peggy Tiger Print Dress

The one thing I love about Shirts is how transitional and dimensional they are. You can take one poplin shirt and wear it a hundred ways, especially to the beach. Whether you want to wear it opened, buttoned up, or tied into a crop, bringing a shirt on your holiday is a must as you’ll always find a fun new way to wear it.

Playsuits and Jumpsuits

MISSONI – Zigzag Halterneck Jumpsuit

These are one of the top outfit choices when you want to add a touch of femininity without getting too dressed up, especially if you don’t plan on getting in the water, they work great as a cover-up. Jumpsuits and playsuits are a chic yet flirty and dreamy choice for your day-time attire, so don’t forget to pack one and a strapless or halter neck piece are perfect to slip on and off for when you eventually decide to take a dip.

Kimono’s

MELISSA ODABASH – Broderie Anglaise Kaftan

If you’re spending most of your time by the beach, apart from just strutting your bikini solo, kimonos are one of the easier pieces to slip on and execute a sultry and chic look. I usually go for a floor length kimono as the way it glides across the ground gives off such an elegant feel but shorter mid or waist length ones work also.

Trousers and Sarongs

MELISSA ODABASH – Pom-Pom Pareo

When your swimwear is at centre stage to your outfit and has a gorgeous top that you know you just can’t cover up with a kaftan, or a shirt, sarongs or beach trousers are the perfect item to execute the fit.

Remember to execute any outfit hair and makeup (if you wish to wear it) must be paired correctly, skincare should always be taken care of so on the days you wish, you can take your natural glow to the beach. All countries have different regulations, but most are adamant on a COVID test which should be taken at least 48 hours before take-off, read more about travel regulations here.
